Costa Bridge was built by Shane and Yolanda — a couple who have lived the UK-to-Spain move, the paperwork, the confusion and the admin. We help British people prepare properly so they don't have to figure it out alone.
Our story
I'm Shane. British, born and raised. I work in transport and logistics — long hours, away from home five days a week. Yolanda is from Bilbao, in the Basque Country. She works in social care as a head cook.
In 2007 we moved to Spain together. Our triplets were born there in 2009. For seven years we lived the full experience — registrations, healthcare, nurseries, schools, tax, bank accounts, social security, and more visits to the town hall than either of us can count.
In 2014 we moved back to the UK. Our children grew up bilingual and bicultural, at home in both countries. Now, with them having left school, we want to spend more time between the UK and Spain — particularly around Spain's coastal relocation areas.
Costa Bridge is built on that lived experience. Not theory, not a course we took, not a franchise we bought. We saw a gap — British people planning a move to Spain had no calm, honest, practical written support. The big corporate services are US-focused and irrelevant. The rest is Facebook groups, forum anecdotes and estate agent marketing. We built Costa Bridge to be the alternative.
I handle all relocation preparation — visa route reviews, document planning, NIE guidance and arrival admin. Yolanda runs the Spanish-language services — everyday translation help, document support and the Servicios en español hub. She's the bridge in Costa Bridge.
What that experience gives us
It gives us three things we believe matter:

British empathy
I know what it feels like to stand in a Spanish office not understanding what is being said, and suspecting that the person behind the counter has just said something important that I missed. I know the anxiety of not being sure whether my documents are sufficient. I know how British people react to that — I am a British person who has reacted to that.

Spanish cultural and bureaucratic understanding
Yolanda grew up with the Spanish systems that confuse British people. She understands the difference between what an official website says and what the official in the local office will actually ask for — which documents matter, which translations must be sworn, which queues are the ones you actually need to stand in.

Lived experience of moving in both directions
Most relocation advisers have only moved one way. We have moved UK to Spain and Spain to UK. We understand the emotional and practical pressures of family relocation, the strain on children, the challenge of maintaining two homes, and the reality of what it takes to make a cross-border life work long-term.
Our boundaries
We are honest about what we do and do not do. It protects you and it protects us. We are not lawyers, tax advisers, gestores or regulated immigration consultants. Our personal experience gives us empathy, understanding and practical know-how — it does not give us the professional qualifications to tell you whether your visa application will be approved, what your tax liability will be, or what a Spanish court would decide about your property dispute. When those questions arise, we tell you clearly that you need a professional.

If a service is not listed on our website, we do not currently provide it. If we cannot help you, we will tell you directly and, where possible, point you to someone who can.
Why “Costa Bridge”
The name is deliberate.
Costa refers to the Spanish coastlines — Costa Blanca, Costa del Sol, Costa Dorada, Costa Cálida, Terres de l'Ebre, Costa Azahar, Costa Brava, Costa de Almería, Costa de la Luz — the places British people most often move to.
Bridge is what we do. A bridge between British uncertainty and Spanish process. Between post-Brexit confusion and practical route planning. Between online noise and structured, written guidance. Between your hopes and the realistic next steps that will get you there.
We are not there yet. We are on the bridge with you.
