How we check our town guides
Our guides are only useful if they are right. This is how we keep them that way, and how you can tell us when we get something wrong.
What every page goes through
Every town and topic page goes through the same steps, and again whenever it changes.
- 1
One checked list of town facts. Population (from INE and the padrón), province, nearest airport, train links and distances are kept in one list we have checked by hand. Any draft that contradicts it is held back for a person to review.
- 2
Official sources first. Our research looks for town hall, regional and national government sources before anything else, plus our own local notes. Where sources disagree, the official one wins.
- 3
If we can't confirm it, we leave it out. A figure or detail we can't confirm goes on our To verify list instead of onto the page.
- 4
People, not just software. We review and edit pages ourselves, and any page where two facts don't match is researched again and flagged to us.
- 5
Dated, so you know how fresh it is. Each page shows the date it last changed. Prices and rules move, so check anything important before you commit.
Spotted something wrong?
Tell us what's out of date or incorrect and we'll check it and put it right. Locals and people who've just been through it are often the first to know.
