About this place

L'Ampolla is the smallest town Costa Bridge covers, and one of the most recent — created only in 1990 when it split from neighbouring el Perelló. With fewer than 4,000 residents, it sits at the mouth of the Ebro Delta, where the river meets the Mediterranean.
The town centres on its small fishing harbour and a modest beach, backed by the Serra del Montsià. Unlike the high-rise resorts of the Costa Dorada, L'Ampolla remains low-density, quiet and distinctly Catalan in character. Delta birdwatchers, cyclists and fishermen know it well; mass tourism has largely passed it by.
For British relocation planners, L'Ampolla is a specialist choice. Property is among the cheapest on the Mediterranean coast, the pace is slow, and the surrounding natural environment — the Delta Natural Park, salt flats and rice paddies — is genuinely unique. But services are thin, English is rarely heard, and even the nearest proper supermarket is a drive away.
