Quick facts

  • Hospital Universitario de Torrevieja is an SNS-listed public hospital under the Valencian Community health department
  • Multiple public primary-care centres (Centros de Salud) serve Torrevieja; check the GVA health department site for your assigned centre
  • Public healthcare registration (Sistema Nacional de Salud) requires padrón empadronamiento first
  • Private clinics and dental practices operate alongside the public system; Costa Bridge does not recommend specific providers

Hospital Universitario de Torrevieja serves as the main referral hospital for the municipality. As of October 2021 it has been fully managed by the Valencian Community Health Department (Conselleria de Sanitat), meaning it operates within the public Sistema Nacional de Salud (SNS).

Primary care is delivered through a network of Centros de Salud covering different districts of the town. Your assigned centre depends on your registered address. Registration requires padrón completion first, followed by SNS registration. The TSI health card (tarjeta sanitaria individual) typically takes time to arrive — there may be a coverage gap between arrival and full activation.

For non-urgent appointments, expect the standard Spanish public system process: visit your assigned Centro de Salud with your TSI card and padrón. Route to specialist care is via your GP (médico de cabecera).
